FROM A PAINTING - AMANDA BLAKE

It's 'From a painting' time! Believe me (Sabinna) when I say that I write this post with the last bits of energy that I have left as all of it was invested into my graduation collection at Central Saint Martins. The show is in less than 2 weeks and I am more than excited to see my designs on the catwalk. If you want to stay updated and see what happens in CSM, follow my Instagram.
So, now back to today's post: The painting is by Amanda Blake and we have chosen it because of the girl's face impression. There is just something about it that caught our attention and we decided to recreate this simple, but beautiful oil painting.

FROM A PAINTING - NAN LAWSON

We had a crazy week full of travels and work (see what we were up to on our Instagram). What is the best way to end such a wonderful and stressful week? Yes, a 'From a painting post'! Today is all about Nan Lawson and her cute illustration girl. Really love that green jumper and adorable blushes - a perfect every day look for Sabinna. Spice it up with a red clutch and some heels and voilà: perfect and comfy outfit is ready.

FROM A PAINTING - KATY SMAIL

Today's 'From a painting' is inspired by an illustration by Katy Smail. Not only the the 2 colour lips inspired us, but also the wonderful flowers in this image, so we decided to recreate it. Mac lipsticks and Sabinna's Schella Kann sweater made a perfect match and here we go!

FROM A PAINTING - MALCOLM LIEPKE

Thank you, dear girls and boys, for sending us so many amazing From a painting suggestions. We already started to pick and recreate some of them, but don't hesitate to keep them coming, we can never have enough. Today's From a painting is inspired by the American artist Malcolm Liepke and was sent to us by our German reader Lena (thank you, Lena! :) ). Red lips, white shirt and the perfect smell - all I need for a Sunday. :) We are now back in London and are sinking in an ocean full of work. Christmas is definitely over, so are the holidays. No choice, so we are ready for 2014! :)

FROM A PAINTING - TALI YALONETZKI

It's time for the first post in 2014! Happy new year, lovelies! And thank you for still being around. :) This year we decided to focus more on our special "From a painting", so be prepared for an overload of outfits that are inspired by paintings/illustrations. If you just joined us, no worries, you can catch up here and see what you missed in 2013. :)
Today's painting of desire is by the great Tali Yalonetzki. We really like her work, it has a very special style, which is very different to all our previous "From a painting" inspirations.

FROM A PAINTING - KAPENA O

We are going to keep it short today, as it's another family Christmas day! We hope you had all wonderful celebrations so far and are excited to show you a new "From a painting" post! It's not that cold in Vienna at the moment, but I still prefer to keep my feet as warm as possible. I have to admit I was never a huge fan of UGG boots, but somehow this lower version in black caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. And guess what? I really like it! :) Also as you might see I wear my hair in a different way - the illustration by Kapena O inspired me to try out a fringeless forehead. How do you like it?

FROM A PAINTING 2013 REVIEW

Who doens't like to look back at the end of the year and reflect again on everything that happened? Well, we love doing that! Especially looking at old blogposts is fun. We checked the clicks and it turns out that your favourite posts of 2013 were mostly from our "From a painting" special. So we decided to give you a little review with all of them and to find out which one was the best so far? Our personal favourite is the Amanda Davies inspired look, it was so much fun recreating it. :)

FROM A PAINTING - PEGGY WOLF

Here is our late Sunday post, dear girls and boys! And guess what it is? Your favourite special 'From a painting'! :) Today's outfit inspiration comes from this beautiful illustration by Peggy Wolf. When we saw it for the first time, we immediately had to think about my (Sabinna) beloved coat and how awesome it would look with this hair-do and make-up. I spiced everything up with my beautiful bag by Vivienne Westwood and here we go: Sunday outfit inspired by a painting is ready. :) We know we say it in probably every single 'From a painting' post, but we will do it again: we love love love to recreate all these gorgeous and inspiring paintings, drawings and illustrations. Also thanks so much to those of you who send us suggestions for these special on our blog. Keep them coming, we love them! :)

FROM A PAINTING - TAMARA DE LEMPICKA

And here we go, time for a new 'From a paniting' post! We both have to say that we love shooting these posts, it is always so much fun to recreate all these wonderful paintings and to get outfit inspirations in such an unusual way. It is quite hard to make it look exactly like the painting, but to be honest, it's not about that anyway. It's more about capturing the mood and the feelings around it. Today's outfit inspiration comes from one of our absolutely favourite artists, Tamara de Lempicka. We could look for hours at her wonderful paintings of these gorgeous women. For the outfit I had to borrow David's wonderful Lanvin sweater (that was an amazing find at the sample sale in Paris) that fits perfectly my favourite lipstick

FROM A PAINTING - AMEDEO MODIGLIANI

We have to admit that we are always super happy when the time comes for a new 'From a painting' post. It is just so much fun to find outfit and hairstyle inspirations in paintings. Today's look is inspired by the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. The painting is called "Madame Hayden" and is from the year 1918.

FROM A PAINTING - RYAN PICKART

Sorry that we didn't post anything for a while, we have been super busy. As an excuse for this long absence we prepared your favourite special: From a painting! Today's artist choice is Ryan Pickart. We thought that Sabinna's DIY flower sweater looks very similar to the one the beautiful lady in the painting is wearing. So here is the outfit inspired from a painting.

By the way, thanks for all the painting/drawing suggestions we got from you, we are currently selecting our favourites and recreating the looks. So stay tuned! :)

FROM A PAINTING - VOGUE COVER 1939

It's time for our (and yours) favourite special on Broken Cookies: From a painting. This time we decided to look at vintage magazin covers and found the Vogue issue from July 1939. We must admit that we both fell in love with it and Sabinna decided to recreate this look and outfit. And here is the result, dear girls and boys. As always we want to know what you think! :)

FROM A PAINTING - ANNIKA KOOPS

It's time for the third round of our great special From a painting. After Egon Schiele and Amanda Davies, we want to present you the awesome artist Annika Koops. Her painting Clarity Jam caught our attention immediately: the make-up-free face, the gorgeous scarf-bow and beautiful hair do - a look  that Sabinna decided to copy straight away. How do you like it, dear girls and boys? By the way: if you have any painting suggestions for our special, don't hesitate to send them over to us! :)

FROM A PAINTING - AMANDA DAVIES

A while ago we started a new special on our blog called "From a painting". We show you paintings that we love and how they inspire our looks and outfits. Last time all eyes were on Egon Schiele, this time we want to present you the great artist Amanda Davies. We found out about her through Babes at the museum and fell in love with her work, especially this one painting of a woman that throws up hair. So, here we go, dear girls and boys, meet the Davies-painting-double. :)

FROM A PAINTING - EGON SCHIELE

Inspiration is everywhere, especially where you don't expect it at all. Sabinna is a huge Egon Schiele-fan, well who isn't, he was a genius. Anyways, when she saw this amazing Schiele painting, she knew how she wants to look like. The hair, the clothes, colours and amazing face expression - so perfect! From now on you will see our favourite paintings and Sabinna's interpretation of it shown in the hairstyle and outfit.
