SABINNA / PART 1

As most of you know I (Sabinna) study Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in London. This year (well actually in less than a month!) I am graduating. Today I want to show you the photos of my graduate show and some previews of the look book. Soon you will get to see the full look book and also a bunch of other details. This collection is based on my mum's childhood in the communistic USSR and her everyday life as a kid/teenager. My mother used to be a professional athlete, so sports and uniforms play an important role in the research. Photos from the family archive, my mum's diary from the late 70s and some of her amazing stories about that time created the concept around my collection. Thanks to my amazing fabric sponsors I was able to create an ethical and organic collection. The PVC parts in the clothes and accessories are made of recycled plastic combined with a special method of melting fabric left overs into one piece of fabric. Also I want to say a HUGE thanks to all the amazing people that supported me through my time in CSM, especially the last year. Most of all David and my mum. And my great family, my awesome friend Scarlett, all my amazing sponsors, especially Antex and Schella Kann!

PLEASE EXPLAIN

In the past few months it was quite calm and silent here on the Broken Cookies planet and today we want to explain what exactly happened. As you know we are both in our final years at the moment, so David is having his final exams soon and is about to start his Master's dissertation with IBM (yes, it's pretty awesome! :) ). Sabinna already handed in her BA thesis and is now spending days and nights working out patterns, sewing samples, creating her own fabrics and putting all these bits and bobs together in order to come up with a final collection (only 5 weeks left until the show!! ). We know that you are used to more frequent content on our blog and we are truly sorry that we have been absent quite a lot. We hope that you aren't too upset with us, dear girls and boys and promise to keep you updated as much as possible on our exciting journeys through final years, especially on Facebook and Instagram. Sabinna has now another Instagram account for her fashion, so head over if you are curious. Also we have some major news for you, like super duper big, so stay tuned!!! And today we want to show you some sneak peeks of Sabinna's work. How do you like it?

SABINNA

We spent the past 2 days and nights in front of our computer screens - why? Because we were working on my (Sabinna's) website! Finally I have a place to display my Central Saint Martins projects and some of my illustrations. I am currently working on my graduation collection, so make sure to follow my Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to be up to date! :) Oh, and head over to my brand new website and let us know what you think! SUNDAY BLUES AND LOVES

We had a hell of a week with so much going on, that we didn't even have time to update the blog for you guys! Sorry about that. We still managed to use Facebook and Instagram though and that's why you probably all know what we have been up to anyway. :) Today we want to show you some photos that David took of me in the jacket, that I recently designed and made. And also we wanted to tell you some news: We won the second place at the Austrian Fashion and Lifestyle Blogaward competition! We feel very honoured and it is great to see our blog Broken Cookies in the top 3, as it isn't a typical fashion and lifestyle blog. We really appreciate the fact that our readers understand and support our creative content and we can't wait to show you more of our ideas. Thanks so much for being around, supporting and reading us!

VIDEO LIFE

Thanks so much to all of you for sending us e-mails with lovely words and most importantly feedback. A lot of you asked for some beauty posts, more DIYs, more "From a painting" specials and also finally some videos. We got quite a few e-mails asking why we never did videos so far and that it would be really awesome to see some. Well, the truth is that we actually did videos, but ages ago. Also they weren't as you might expect them to be. We would say it's artsy-fartsy crazy stuff with awesome music in the background. Why are we actually still writing? We will just show you! So, dear girls and boys, here are our weird, but somehow awesome videos. (Those of you, who follow us from the really beginning, might know some of them. :) ) Enjoy, and don't worry, we are going to make more videos soon! :)

CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS - TAILORING PROJECT

We know, it has been a looong time since our last post and we are truly sorry for that! Last weeks were crazy busy and exams made our life hard, but now it's all over for a while and you will see more of us. :) Today we share with you the outcome of Sabinna's latest project at Central Saint Martins. She designed a suit mainly inspired by the work of Hans Bellmer. The suit is made out of a curtain-fabric. 

CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS TEAM PROJECT - CHECKED.

Looking at Sabinna's sktechbooks from the last 2 terms, we realized that we totally forgot to share with you one of her projects! In the first term she was working on a team projects with students from other pathways at Central Saint Martins. Sabinna's group did a collection inspired by practical wear such as aprons. We reused and printed old bedsheets, combined them with melted rubber bands and knit.

IF DAVID WAS A BIRD.

If David was a bird, he would fly high over the world and watch Sabinna walking down the streets. And of course he would take photos and share them with you.

Well, it looks like this dream came true and David had his chance to touch the sky. Sabinna was enjoying the sun at this moment, wearing her bacoat, walking around and lying on the ground.

CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS - BAG PROJECT ILLUSTRATIONS

Here some illustrations of Sabinna's last project at Central Saint Martins, which was about designing a collection of bags. Sabinna focused on simple and functional shapes and created her own latex fabric. This was produced by putting liquid latex on LEGO bricks and let them dry.

CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS - ASPECTS PROJECT

Time for a project post! Sabinna's recent project at Central Saint Martins was about different aspects and details of clothes. Sabinna has chosen pockets and developed a small collection and a final piece out of it. She focused on pockets, methods of attachement, magnetfields and visually similar artpieces.

Her idea was to create a pocket that transforms to a part of garment by unfolding it. So that you have the possiblity to recreate a garment in a very short period of time. Also the fabric that was used for it, was created by Sabinna. Here are some outtakes of her sketchbook, her final design and final illustartions. We hope you like it!

A SELECTION OF LINES.

MEET THE BACOAT.

You might ask yourself what a bacoat is, well, here is the answer: A Bacoat is half backpack, half coat and was created by Sabinna. As you can see on the photos there are lots of different ways of wearing the Bacoat. Which is your favourite?

CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS - TURNING POINT PROJECT

Central Saint Masrtins College of Art and Design is moving to a new building and so the last project of this year was about CSM and its turning point. Sabinna did a dress out of audio tapes, which represented the students of CSM. And to complete the project we, David and Sabinna, did a movie about the emotional stages of a CSM student.
